The Writers Studio holds workshops in New York City, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Online.

New York City Program

Workshops are held in informal classroom settings, where teachers, trained by The Writers Studio, create exercises appropriate to each level. In addition to the creation of a persona, various other elements of craft, such as mood, tone, dialogue and poetic techniques, are taught through literary examples. Students are urged to expand these short exercises into publishable works.

Online Program

If you're too far from New York City to attend one of our workshops, you can still learn to write using our unique, technique-oriented method by joining one of our online ten-week workshops in Fiction & Poetry.

When we started the first Online Workshop in February 2001, it was a response to writers outside the New York City area, who had read about us and wanted to become part of The Writers Studio community. The response has been great, and there are now six Online Classes at four levels, with plans to expand to five levels in the near future.
